Easter Beers – a pairing guide

With everything that has happened over the last year, we don’t need any excuse to try and make the things just that little bit special. There is lots of Easter excitement and we thought we would help you along with your plans with a simple beer pairing guide.

The delicious hot cross bun, toasted and then smothered with a bit of butter. Forget the cup of tea, what about a Coffee Porter as an afternoon alternative? Or if you really want to make the fruity flavours sing, then try it with our very refreshing Mistral – a highly drinkable pale ale.

Bring out the flavours of your Easter Sunday Roast Lamb with one of our more hoppy beers – Tornado. This beer is a single hop Citra IPA and works really well with this meat. Alternatively now could be a good time to try our recent seasonal launch Vélo. This Belgian Style pale ale has earthy characteristics that complement this roast.

Beer and Chocolate can work so well together. Here at Windswept Brewing, we often use a chocolate malt in our dark beers such as our Scottish Ale, Wolf, or our smooth but strong Russian Imperial Stout, Bear. We think both will be fantastic with your chosen Easter Egg.

The old classic Simnel cake – fruity with strong almond from the marzipan. We have gone to two of our stalwarts to pair with this teatime treat. APA, our American IPA has good citrus flavours to help cut through the sweetness of the marzipan or our cloudy wheat beer, Weizen with its hint of banana and clove can work well too.

A specially mention must also go to Witch Pricker – our Chocolate Stout. It is dark, sophisticated and we think a great alternative to a chocolate egg.

Head to the shop now and get some Easter Treats in your basket.
