We’re trying something new. Our Moray LEADER funded Field to Firkin project is a trailblazing exploration looking at ways to create a short, local supply chain between Moray based farmers and brewers.
We want to use barley grown and malted in Moray in our brews but as simple as that might sound, it’s not currently possible. The project is helping us to explore how we might set up a sustainable model for the future that will benefit us, other microbrewers, farmers and the local economy.
Back in February (in the good old days when social gatherings were still a thing) we held a V.I.P. tasting event where selected customers helped choose a winner from some trial brews made by our brewing team.
After that, we got slightly held up by recent events (nobody mention the ‘P’ word) but we eventually managed to purchase barley grown by Pitgaveny Farm (just five miles from the brewery) and get it malted, ready for brewing.
Then at the beginning of this month, the brew was made! It was bottled last week and next month it will be available to buy from our online shop and with any luck, in the Taproom too. So, soon it will be time for you to ‘try something new’ too!
Launching 15 July 2020.
