Windswept Brewing Co. took home five awards at the SIBA Scotland Independent Beer Awards, which took place at Drygate Brewery in Glasgow on Thursday 7th September 2017.

In the cask competition WOLF won Gold in the Porters, Stouts, Old Ales, Strong Milds and Strong Brown Ales category, and WEREWOLF won Bronze in the Speciality Mid to Dark Beers category.

In the small pack competition BEAR won Gold in the Speciality Mid to Dark Beers category, and TORNADO won Silver in the Premium Strong Beers category.  BEAR went on to win the Bronze in the Small Pack Overall Champion rankings.

The SIBA Scotland Independent Beer Awards judge a huge range of beers across a number of styles in separate cask and small pack (bottle and can) competitions. As the awards are judged mostly by brewers, industry experts and beer journalists the SIBA Independent Beer Awards are very much seen as the prestigious ‘Brewers’ Choice Awards’ by the industry. Gold award winners in the regional competitions go forward to the National Competition held at BeerX in Liverpool in March 2018.

Buster Grant, SIBA Chairman said: “Judges had a tough job separating the pack as the standard was extremely high once again. The winners from the SIBA competition are officially the best independent craft beers in the Scotland region, something brewers should be extremely proud of.”

We are!

Al Read, Operations Director said: “Five awards is a fantastic result.  Scottish brewers raise the bar every year and it’s great to be in such fine company.  WEREWOLF won a lot of fans with the brewers at the event.  Maybe we’ll see a few more chilli beers next year.  Look out for this year’s WEREWOLF which will be unleashed in October.”
